A Baño For Tying Up Loose Ends

A lot of us experienced a rough pandemic period while in our homes, enlightening always, but a rough patch? Yeah for sure. Major changes occurred in all of us and sometimes the walls we live in see the changes but hold on to memories and feelings from that past.

I think a cord cutting baño is especially helpful if you’re experiencing grief and heartbreak. It cuts karmic ties from things that occurred in the past like difficult situations, traumas, past relationship woes from lovers, friendships and family relations. It is a ritual to remove cords/ties, helps to restore your energy and stop any unwanted energetic exchange. This is a great baño to use after moving on, making big changes and wanting to move on having “tied all loose ends.”

Here’s a quick and easy recipe and ritual if you are feeling called to create one at home:

Tools needed:

  • candle (white or black)
  • Paper
  • Pen
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Fire safe container
  • Matches/ lighter
  • Pot for prepping the baño
  • Water

Herbs needed:

  • Bay Leaves
  • Basil
  • Rosemary
  • Sage
  • Thyme

What to do:

After gathering your tools and herbs, create your sacred container however works for you. Once you’ve got your vibration elevating, start creating your cord cutting ritual.

First, light your candle and take a few deep breaths settling into your space. Begin writing things you are cutting cords from, writing down situations, names, memories, addictions, negative patterns etc. Name them all, write it out and reread it, edit as you need. Make sure to handwrite this list, you are acting as a channel, allowing your higher self to come through. Once you are complete, prepare your bath. Bring about a quart of water to boil and as it's heating up, begin praying into your herbs. Thanking them for their medicine and asking them to remove unwanted cords, the cords you’re aware of and the cords that we cant see.

Once the water is boiling, add the herbs and bring it down to a simmer for about 10 minutes then leave it to cool. As the baño is cooling down, begin the cord cutting ritual. Take your paper of things you're cutting energetic ties to, wrap and tie your string around it creating a knot (however you feel and see fit to knot and wrap the paper). As you hold the paper, remember all the things you’re releasing and when you are ready cut the paper where the knot is tied, cut it in half.

Take your candle and light the paper on fire, putting it into your fire safe dish to full ash and transmute to the universe. From here, continue with your baño preparation—strain and transfer your baño to a bowl to be carried to your bathroom. If you feel called, add oils, flowers, crystals, flower essences, etc.

As you carry your bowl, continue to set intentions and ask this infused water to remove energy cords that do not serve your highest good. There are a few ways to work with the baño. First, if you have a bathtub that you use, consider filling your tub and adding this infused mixture to the bath water. Imagining your water to be glowing with a golden light. Allow your whole body to be immersed and your head at moments as well. Chill in the water for a meditation’s length of time, guided or self guided.

If you have a shower space only, you can hop in the shower and pour the water over your head allowing it to cascade down your body as you visualize the water as a glowing golden light. This golden light is removing those cut energies and healing the places where these cords had been removed. Filling you with golden, healing light from mother earth—connecting you and integrating your wounds to the self as gained knowledge, heart centered wisdom and self love. Here is a sweet, guided Golden Light Meditation.

After your baño, relax, take it easy, allow yourself to take your time and reflect on your baño experience. This ritual may be helpful to do before bed, it can be energetically tiring and you may want to sleep. Either way, you will feel rejuvenated and lighter the following day. Please feel free to use your intuition and add or change this recipe to fit your individual ritual. This is a great baño to do on a full moon as well!
